SEM, formerly the Caterpillar Qingzhou Company, was founded in 1958 and reorganized as a shareholding company in 2003. Located in Qingzhou City, east of Shandong province, the factory is easily accessible by major highways. SEM currently has approximately 2,000 employees. In 2008, SEM joined Caterpillar Inc. as an important part of Caterpillar’s marketing strategy in China, and today SEM is a major Caterpillar brand supporting China’s fast growing customer base

   At SEM, we are continually expanding our product line. Current products include wheel loaders, soil compactors, motor graders, and fabrications business. Our technical research and development teams are committed to developing landfill compactors, track type tractors and other new products. As a result of adopting 6 sigma, CPS (Cat Production Systems) and advanced management philosophies since 2005, we have achieved strong results in safety, product quality, production efficiency and profits.

   Additionally, we continue to increase capacity to meet customer demands. With the support of local government, we are acquiring property near Qingzhou city to expand capacity of SEM major products and other components parts. As a result, Caterpillar’s presence and competitive position in China and other growing markets will continue to increase.

   We have a broad and well-established distribution network in more than 30 countries, including Southeast Asia, Africa and Middle East, Russia and CIS countries, Latin America and Central America.
